Effectively manage Drupal codebase in a University environment

Universities are unique in their requirements for running and maintaining Drupal sites - they have many (hundreds) sites and typically many teams. That usually means increased challenges on maintaining a single platform across the university to reduce maintenance and increase effectiveness of development.
